Preparing to code in the military (1) The phone

Published 1 min read

AI is changing so fast right now that I want to keep working on personal projects inside the base during my 1 year and 9 months in the military, and stay as sharp as I can.

I used to use an iPhone SE3, but the screen was too small, so I decided to get a Fold.

I connected Claude Code to the Aside browser and had it go through every Z Fold7 listing on Bunjang, a Korean secondhand marketplace, through its API, checking every seller's rating and reviews too. It paid off: the seller I picked only did in-person deals, and when I accidentally placed a delivery order, they came all the way to where I was.

Then I installed Orca and Tailscale.

Samsung Pay doesn't work while Tailscale is on, so I excluded Samsung Wallet with split tunneling.

The terminal on my computer syncs one-to-one with my phone, which was great. I could even handle urgent work from the phone.

With this, I'm practicing coding at cafes with just my phone and no laptop.
